Paul Simon lists 32-acre ‘private park’ in New Canaan, Connecticut for $ 14 million

Musician Paul Simon just listed his countryside estate in New Canaan, CT for $ 13.9 million-16 percent less than he paid for it (h / t the Wall Street newspaper). The 32-acre property that Simon and his wife, singer-songwriter Edie Brickell and their three children have called home since 2002 includes an 8,500 square foot main house and private recording studio, walled gardens and a courtyard, a landscaped park with a stream, meadows, woods, a large lawn, a pond, waterfalls and a garage for three cars.

In a statement, Simon recalled that “The first thing we thought about when we left Manhattan was’ Wow! We have our own park. Took half an hour to walk a loop of the property with the dogs. He recorded his last four albums in the studio, which he called “a peaceful space”.

Located in a quiet cul-de-sac near central New Canaan, the expansive colonial-style whitewashed brick main residence, designed by Harold Reeve Sleeper, was built in the 1930s. An oval entrance opens into a living room and a veranda with stunning views. In addition to a living and dining room, there are several libraries / lounges and six bedrooms.

A stone wall with a closed entrance announces a driveway surrounded by brick walls. The house sits above the property overlooking a pond surrounded by meadows, with stunning views over the large lawn.

Formal gardens and courtyards join a terraced swimming pool on the grounds surrounding the main house.

The recording studio occupies a separate two-bedroom cottage on the property. The 2,400 square foot cottage would also make a great guesthouse or a writer’s studio.
